The BSW Partnership is an integrated care system (ICS) made up of NHS and local authority organisations working together. The ICS is led by its Integrated Care Board (ICB).

The Integrated Care Board is now looking to recruit five Non-Executive Directors to work in areas such as finance, audit, community and public engagement, quality and renumeration, and people.

As an independent non-executive member of the BSW ICB, you will help to shape a long-term, viable plan for local health and care services.

You will also have a key role in ensuring that the voice and needs of patients and communities are central to ICB discussions and decisions, so that plans and decisions are made in an open, inclusive and accessible ways and deliver the best possible health outcomes for all.

The ICB is interested in your life experience and personal motivations that will add valuable personal insights, such as:

  • Being a patient, carer or service user.
  • Experience of gender and women’s issues.
  • Engaging with diverse social, economic and cultural groups and communities; experiences and challenges of younger people.
  • Those with lived experience of mental health issues and/or living with physical chronic conditions or disability.

Stephanie Elsy, Chair Designate of the BSW ICB, said the roles offered an opportunity for people to offer knowledge, experience and skills to make sure that the ICB does the best it can for local people and communities. She said:

“BSW ICB needs diverse, inclusive and compassionate leaders who not only reflect the community we serve and the staff we employ, but have the leadership style and breadth of perspective to make good collective decisions.

"We have a strong record of delivery and improvement, and we are proud of what we have achieved together including being awarded Integrated Care System (ICS) status in December 2020.

"The team here at BSW are making good progress in developing our partnership and I look forward to the extra insight and vision that our new Non-Executive Directors will bring to our organisation.”

What are integrated care systems?

Integrated care is about giving people the support they need, joined up across local councils, the NHS, and other partners. It removes traditional divisions between hospitals and family doctors, between physical and mental health, and between NHS and council services.

Integrated care systems (ICSs) are new partnerships between the organisations that meet health and care needs across an area, to coordinate services and to plan in a way that improves population health and reduces inequalities between different groups. Subject to Parliamentary approval, ICSs will be put on a statutory footing from April 2022.

The BSW Partnership became an ICS in December 2020.
